Several people were injured in a gas explosion in a three-story apartment building in Katowice, Poland. A spokeswoman for the local fire brigade told the German Press Agency that seven people, including three children, were rescued by the rescuers or left the building on their own. They would be given medical attention.
The rescue workers suspect another person under the rubble of the collapsed house, the rescue work is ongoing.
The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning. According to the fire department, it is not known how many people were in the building at the time of the explosion.
Recordings from the TVN24 broadcaster showed a residential building from the Gründerzeit, the facade and front part of which had completely collapsed. The fire brigade has requested the assistance of a search party from the mining town of Jastrzebie-Zdroj.
