Former US President Donald Trump has launched his campaign for the 2024 presidential election with appearances in two US states. In New Hampshire and South Carolina he presented his campaign team for the states.

He was angrier and more committed than ever, Trump tried to refute doubts about how serious he was about his candidacy. Trump also repeated his lie about voter fraud and again claimed to have won the 2020 presidential election. Under his leadership, the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine would never have happened, Trump also claimed in New Hampshire. In South Carolina, Trump received support from Republican state senator Lindsey Graham, among others.

So far no opponent

Both New Hampshire and South Carolina are among the states that start the Republican primary early. The internal party votes will decide who will run for the party in the next elections in 2024 for the presidency. Donald Trump declared his candidacy in November after the US midterm elections.

So far, no opposing Republican candidate has dared to break cover. However, several are said to have ambitions. Among them are Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Trump’s former Vice President Mike Pence and former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

If he were to enter the race for the candidacy, polls show that DeSantis could become Trump’s closest competitor. DeSantis was re-elected governor of Florida in November’s midterm elections with nearly 60 percent of the vote. Trump himself did not stand in November. However, the poor performance of many of the candidates he supported weakened him within the party. Things have been relatively quiet around Trump since he announced his candidacy.
