A young woman was fatally injured in a fall in the Wilhelmshöhe mountain park in Kassel. The 28-year-old had an “unfortunate slip” on Thursday afternoon and fell about ten meters, said a police spokesman. She suffered such severe injuries that she died in a hospital early in the evening. According to the police officer, the incident was a tragic accident. There were therefore no indications of suicide or foul play. The “Hessische/Niedersächsische Allgemeine” had previously reported on the accident.
The approximately 240-hectare park with artificial rock formations, cascades and an aqueduct is built on a steep slope, as stated on the website of the Hessen Kassel Heritage institution. The area with its historic water features has been a UNESCO World Heritage site for a good ten years, the park’s description continues. A central theme is garden art in Europe in earlier times. Some trees in the park are more than 200 years old.
