New signing Florian Niederlechner from Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC has taken heart with his first win after four defeats. “We have to act courageously. If you just wait, you can count the minutes when it rattles,” said the 32-year-old attacker in a media round on Wednesday with regard to the away game at Borussia Dortmund on Sunday (5:30 p.m. / DAZN). “We have to be aggressive, then I hope for a point as a minimum.”

Niederlechner, who came from FC Augsburg during the winter break, sees the upcoming opponents as one of the best teams and the appearance at Signal-Iduna-Park as the “most difficult away game” ever: “Maybe they underestimate us, this is our chance.”

Niederlechner, who scored 27 goals in 101 league games for Augsburg, is also hoping for his first goal in the blue and white jersey. The father of two sons has not set himself a certain number: “I will probably no longer become a national player or win the Champions League. I just want Hertha to be successful and provide a lot of goals and assists.”

Niederlechner initially has two years to be successful for Hertha. An extension in Berlin is just as possible as a change to his favorite club 1860 Munich or the end of his career. “It will definitely have something to do with football,” says Niederlechner, who could have imagined ending his career in Augsburg. On February 25, Hertha BSC will host the Fuggerstadt team.
