Football fans have to spend even more money in the new Champions League season than in the previous season. In order to have free choice in the three European Cup competitions, even three subscriptions are necessary.
Two subscriptions are required for the premier class. DAZN and Amazon are showing the Champions League for the second year. Amazon customers can watch the top game on Tuesday via the Prime Video offer.
DAZN shows all other games. The paid internet provider has purchased a package with a total of 121 live games, including conferences.
On Wednesday, DAZN will show the game Borussia Dortmund against Chelsea. Kick-off is at 9 p.m.
DAZN has increased the price again for the new season. The streaming service costs EUR 29.99 per month. That’s about twice as expensive as last season. If you want to see all the Champions League games, you need the Amazon Prime subscription for 8.99 euros, which was also cheaper in the previous season at 7.99 euros.
RB Leipzig supporters may fret at the disregard from online giant Amazon, which doesn’t show the team’s round of 16 game. On the other hand, they can be happy because they only need a subscription for their team’s live games, at least for the time being.
The range of moving images of the most important club competition on free-to-air television is still scarce. ZDF is allowed to broadcast the final live and also shows highlights. On a total of 14 match days, the second offers summaries on Wednesdays from 11 p.m.
Fans must find out beforehand which pub is broadcasting which games. Sky does not own any rights, but offers Prime Video’s live games in the sports bars with contracts after an agreement with Amazon. Pubs that also want to show their customers the other games need an additional contract with DAZN.
Fans of the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League need neither Amazon nor DAZN. The television home of the competitions is the RTL Group. The games are shown on RTL, on the niche channel Nitro and on the in-house streaming service RTL.
The first leg of the Europa League play-offs between Ajax Amsterdam and Union Berlin can be seen on RTL on Thursday. Kick-off is at 6:45 p.m. From 9 p.m. RTL will broadcast the Bayer Leverkusen vs. AS Monaco game on linear TV and in the stream on RTL.
RTL has also become more expensive. A subscription to the streaming service for ten months (Season Pass) costs EUR 49.90 after EUR 34.99 in the previous season.
