Anyone who has seen the postnatal spectacle of irrepressible desire will never forget it. Although the newborn has only just fought its way out of the womb under hardship, it sets off again after birth: It turns, pushes itself from the stomach to the chest under its own steam – intuitively knowing that what awaits it there ensures its survival in the coming months and years: mother’s milk.
