The websites of several German airports were disrupted by suspected hacker attacks on Thursday. According to the airport association ADV, these were so-called DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial of Service), in which websites can collapse under a large number of targeted requests. Accordingly, seven locations were affected.

The airports in Düsseldorf and Nuremberg reported disruptions. According to ADV, other systems were not affected. There were also no known disruptions to air traffic.

DDoS attacks happen again and again. In January, the websites of the Bundestag, the police and critical infrastructure facilities in Germany were affected.
