In the proceedings regarding a lawsuit by the Russian state-owned company Rosneft against the federal government, the Federal Administrative Court initially interrupted the oral hearing in the afternoon. The presiding judge Ulla Held-Daab announced an “interim consultation” of the judges. Only then did she want to announce (around 5.30 p.m.) how the procedure would continue and when a judgment could be announced.

The Russian oil company Rosneft is suing the trust administration of its two German subsidiaries Rosneft Germany and RN Refining

The background is the German renunciation of Russian crude oil after Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Rosneft is largely owned by the Russian state. The subsidiaries are majority owners of the important PCK refinery in Schwedt, Brandenburg. In 2022 they were still importing mostly Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline and, according to the federal government, had no interest in moving away from it. They also hold shares in other refineries in Germany.

The Federal Administrative Court is the first and last instance in the proceedings.
