The left-wing politician Tilo Kummer does not want to run again for mayor of Hildburghausen after being voted out. “I hope that the next mayor of Hildburghausen belongs to the democratic spectrum,” said Kummer on Sunday after announcing the preliminary result of his deselection to the German Press Agency. Kummer’s deselection was initiated by city councilors from the AfD, SPD, the fire brigade and Pro HBN voter groups and a city councilor from the right-wing extremist group Bündnis Zukunft Hildburghausen.

Sorrow said that disappointment outweighed concern about how the city should proceed. “I think I’ve done a good job for the city,” he said. Kummer, who was a member of the state parliament in the last legislative period, left it open how things would go with him politically.
