A week after Shrove Monday, the police presented a balance sheet for the Cologne street carnival. Crime has therefore increased in all areas – above the pre-corona level of 2019, as the police announced on Monday in Cologne.
Between Altweiber and Ash Wednesday, 463 pickpockets were registered in Cologne, 49 robbery offenses, 590 physical injuries, 54 sexual offenses and 35 acts of resistance against officials. There were 21 attacks on police officers or equivalent persons.
In addition, the police noticed a shift in criminal offenses away from the well-known Cologne party miles. There the number of criminal offenses had declined despite the massive influx of visitors, which could be attributed to the massive police presence there.
