Saleh al-Aruri was a mediator between Islamists. Officially a deputy in Hamas’ political bureau, his main aim was to strengthen the relationship with the Lebanese terrorist brothers Hezbollah and the major donor Iran. Since Tuesday evening, al-Aruri’s existence as an ambassador of evil has been history: the 57-year-old was killed in a drone attack in Dahiyeh, a southern district of the Lebanese capital Beirut. Two other Hamas commanders and four previously unknown men died with him. Al-Aruri is the highest-ranking Hamas official to pay with his life for the October 7 terrorist massacre in which 1,200 Israelis were murdered and 240 hostages were kidnapped to Gaza.
