The February 6 earthquake killed more than 50,000 people in Turkey and Syria. For Turkey, the World Bank had estimated the damage directly caused at 34 billion dollars. According to the financial institution, the actual damage in both countries is likely to increase significantly, among other things due to production losses in damaged companies.
