National player Leon Goretzka criticized his team’s performance in the final stages after FC Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win at VfB Stuttgart.
“We made a few mistakes after the 2-0 with the whole idea we had,” said the Munich midfielder after the game. Bayern looked like they were sure to win after just over an hour, but had to tremble again after the Stuttgart goal in the 88th minute.
“We have the right to control a game like that,” said Goretzka. “In my opinion, we played against an opponent who didn’t believe in it after they made it 2-0. We have to act accordingly, we didn’t manage that especially in the last 15 minutes. Then it can even be 2-2 in the end go out.” That shouldn’t happen.
Too many conclusions for the Champions League cracker against Paris St. Germain on Wednesday could not be drawn, said the 28-year-old. He expects a “completely different game” against PSG than against VfB, which is threatened with relegation from the Bundesliga, Goretzka explained. Bayern take a 1-0 lead from the first leg into the second round of 16 duel with the French.
