The Dax tested the 15,700 point mark in early trading today. It rose to a 13-month high. On the one hand, support comes from German industry. This got off to a solid start in the new year and received more orders than in December. Analysts, on the other hand, had expected a decline on average. On the other hand, there are indications of a friendly start to trading in the USA.

At lunchtime, the leading German index gained 0.32 percent to 15,703.55 points. In 2023, which is still young, it is already almost 13 percent up. The MDax for medium-sized stocks rose by 0.11 percent to 29,205.50 points on Tuesday. Most of Europe’s major exchanges also posted modest gains. In the later course of trading, the view will go in the direction of the USA. Fed President Jerome Powell will address the US Senate Banking Committee.

In the Dax, Zalando took the lead in the index with a plus of 3.8 percent, while Henkel was at the bottom with minus 2.5 percent. After a slump in profits last year, the online fashion retailer Zalando wants to significantly improve its profitability by 2025, which was positively received on the market. The consumer goods and adhesives manufacturer Henkel, on the other hand, was not enthusiastic.

Hellofresh and Schaeffler lose

At the end of the MDax, Hellofresh lost a double-digit percentage at times. Most recently, the shares lost 5.9 percent. Analyst Marcus Diebel from JPMorgan gave a negative assessment of the operating earnings outlook for the cooking box supplier and the number of active customers.

Schaeffler fell by 6.4 percent in the SDax, because the automotive and industrial supplier, which is still struggling with high costs, disappointed with its operating result and profitability in the fourth quarter. In addition, the outlook was cautious.

Traton, on the other hand, was the favorite in the index of smaller stocks with a plus of 6.0 percent. The annual figures and an optimistic outlook from the VW commercial vehicle holding catapulted the share to its highest level in around twelve months.
