They are said to have illegally collected several hundred thousand euros with fake sales on the eBay classifieds platform: The Würzburg public prosecutor’s office has now brought charges against three young men from Hesse. The youth chamber of the Würzburg district court is currently examining whether the procedure will be taken over due to the special scope, a spokesman for the public prosecutor said on request. The accused have not yet commented on the allegations.
The entire complex is about 1800 victims. 1065 cases of fraud could have already been identified. A total damage of around 895,000 euros was incurred. However, not all of the individual acts could be attributed to the three suspects, the spokesman said. There are other suspects in the complex and the investigation is ongoing. The spokesman did not give any details.
The accused men are 19 and 20 years old. They were caught in November 2022. The trio is said to have used hacked user accounts from other platform users to fake the sale of items such as game consoles and graphics cards, police and prosecutors said at the time. However, the goods never reached the buyers.
