A technical fault temporarily paralyzed the Esslingen Citizens’ Registration Office on Thursday, among other things. According to a spokeswoman for the city, several municipalities in Baden-Württemberg were affected by the disruption, which was due to the Komm. One municipal data center. According to the city, there were around 100 appointments in Esslingen alone. As the company announced, a software change led to a very high load on the servers concerned, which then led to a technical malfunction.
Komm. One is the program basis for all services in the citizen office, explained the spokeswoman. The problem was fixed around 12:30 p.m. “The disruption affected the program with which all resident-related data are processed.” This includes, for example, the application for an ID card. “Without a functioning residents’ system, no processing of applications of any kind is possible,” said the spokeswoman. Affected citizens in Esslingen had to make new appointments.
