Filashkin published photos showing, among other things, helpers combing through the rubble of six houses in Pokrovsk. According to emergency services, six people, including two children, were still missing following the attacks in the region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj condemned the attacks in the evening: “The Russians only hit residential buildings and private houses.” He assured that no Russian attack would be “without consequences.”

The city of Pokrovsk, where 60,000 people lived before the war, had already been badly hit in August. At that time, nine people died and more than 80 others were injured.

The Donetsk region is currently a main battle area in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Russian troops invaded the neighboring country on February 24, 2022. In June 2023, Ukraine launched a counteroffensive, but it did not bring the successes that Kiev had hoped for. The front line has hardly changed in the past year.
