Olympic champion Denise Herrmann-Wick finished the last race of her biathlon career in sixth place.
In the fog of Oslo, the sprint world champion had three penalties in the mass start and was therefore unable to fight for the podium one day after her sprint success. After crossing the finish line, she fell into her husband Thomas Wick’s arms, crying.
In the end, the 34-year-old was 57.1 seconds behind the victorious Hanna Öberg. After a penalty loop, the Swede relegated Marte Olsbu Röiseland (1) to second place with 22.6 seconds. The Norwegian also ended her career like third-placed Anais Chevalier-Bouchet (3/43.7 seconds). The French prevailed against Hanna Kebinger (1) in the final sprint. In fourth place, the 25-year-old was just 2.8 seconds short of her first World Cup podium. It was her best career result to date.
Vanessa Voigt (3) was 14th, directly followed by Janina Hettich-Walz (3). The German biathletes ended the season with three wins, two second places and four third places. All five individual podiums went to Herrmann-Wick, who also won World Championship gold in the sprint and World Championship silver in the pursuit, as well as silver in the relay.
