The Bremen electoral area is one of two electoral areas in the state, the other being Bremerhaven. The state election committee will then decide separately on Thursday whether a list submitted there by the AfD will be approved. The electoral area committee responsible for Bremerhaven allowed this, but the local electoral area manager lodged a complaint.

The Bremen AfD is deeply divided and split into two camps. There are two board members who deny each other the legitimacy to represent the party. They also submitted the different lists, which is not legally permissible. A party may only submit one nomination. The situation within the party is extremely complicated and legally controversial.
