Baris Atik will remain with the second division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg. On Tuesday, the club announced the extension of the contract with the midfielder. The FCM did not provide any information about the term of the new contract. Atik has been playing for Magdeburg since 2021. Before that he had been active at TSG Hoffenheim, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Darmstadt 98 and Dynamo Dresden.
Born in Rhineland-Palatinate, the 28-year-old is the linchpin of the Magdeburg game. In the 2021–22 promotion season, he set a third division scorer point record with 19 goals and 22 assists. “For me, 1. FC Magdeburg is something very special. I feel extremely comfortable and valued at the club with these sensational fans. That’s why it wasn’t difficult for me to extend my contract,” said Atik. FCM coach Christian Titz emphasized: “Baris is an extremely important player for us, who plays a central role for us both on and off the pitch.”
