FC Bayern Munich will play the Bundesliga home game against TSG Hoffenheim without new signing Eric Dier. The 29-year-old defender is not in the squad of the German football record champions.

Dier, who will be officially presented in Munich on Saturday, was only signed by Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.

“He can help us immediately because he is in top shape, because he has played in the Premier League over 300 times and because he has a sensationally good character,” said coach Thomas Tuchel on DAZN shortly before the game.

Guerreiro in the starting line-up instead of Goretzka

For the second-placed team’s game, which is dedicated to the memory of Franz Beckenbauer, who died on Sunday, coach Thomas Tuchel will be without Leon Goretzka in the starting line-up. Raphaël Guerreiro plays alongside Joshua Kimmich in defensive midfield. After problems in training, winger Kingsley Coman initially sits on the bench like Goretzka. That’s why veteran Thomas Müller is in the starting line-up.

It was a “very close decision” between the recently ailing Coman and Müller, said Tuchel. “Kingsley had another break the day before yesterday, so we didn’t want to take any risks.” Guerreiro had a “narrow” lead compared to Goretzka.

The team is led by captain Manuel Neuer, who is playing his 500th competitive game for FC Bayern. The 37-year-old goalkeeper is now level with Bastian Schweinsteiger.
