The tourist traffic before Easter led to waiting times of several hours at the English port in Dover. The port operators said on Saturday that they were deeply frustrated, especially for the bus passengers who had to wait so long for their ferry.
Goods and car traffic could be handled stably despite challenging weather conditions and the seasonally high volume. In coach traffic, on the other hand, there were significant delays due to lengthy French border crossings and the sheer volume. Please excuse me.
One of the ferry operators, DFDS, wrote on Twitter on Friday evening that the waiting time for coaches is an estimated seven hours. The company also referred to French border controls. On Saturday afternoon, the port said on Twitter that the situation for the buses was improving, the border clearance time was still around 60 minutes.
Travelers had previously reported to the British media that they sometimes waited more than twelve hours. The Easter holiday season has just started in the UK.
