Tennis professional Jan-Lennard Struff made it into the round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Monte Carlo for the first time since 2018.

The 32-year-old Warsteiner defeated the Australian Alex de Minaur in 69 minutes 6: 3, 6: 2 on Wednesday and showed a strong performance.

Struff had reached the main draw at the Masters 1000 tournament with two victories in qualification and also won his start with confidence. He now meets the winner of the game between number four seed Norway’s Casper Ruud and Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands. In addition to Struff, Alexander Zverev is also in action on Wednesday as another German tennis professional in the round of the top 32.

In the world rankings, Struff slipped to 168th place last year, but has now moved back up to 100th place. He will continue to climb with the Monte Carlo result. The clay court tournament is endowed with 5.779 million euros.
