The hope for a powerful artificial intelligence from Germany sits on the outskirts of Heidelberg, protected by a barbed wire fence and a strict security protocol. One of the hottest start-ups in the country has taken up residence here, in an aging prefabricated building in an industrial area: the AI company Aleph Alpha.
