After a serious accident near Haren in the Emsland district, an 83-year-old died in the hospital. The driver was driving on the Autobahn 31 in the direction of Emden on Sunday afternoon, the police said on Tuesday. For reasons that were initially unclear, his car skidded, overturned and finally landed on its side on an embankment. The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to the police, he died there on Monday. After the accident, the access and exits from the Haren junction to the north were temporarily closed.
