Warning strikes by security personnel again caused numerous flight cancellations at several German airports on Friday. Stuttgart Airport has now been added to the airports in Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn and Hamburg, which were already on strike on Thursday. No passenger planes started from there on Friday morning, as the airport announced.

According to a spokesman, 170 of the originally planned 211 flights are to be canceled at Cologne/Bonn Airport. Around 160 out of 400 flights are affected in Düsseldorf. In contrast to take-offs, landings are possible in Stuttgart, but according to the airport there are also cancellations. In Baden-Württemberg there are also warning strikes at the comparatively smaller Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (Baden-Airpark), which could result in longer waiting times and short-term flight cancellations.

Passengers were informed in advance. According to airport spokesmen, it was quite empty in the terminals at Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn airports on Friday morning. With the warning strike by employees of private security companies, the Verdi union wants to increase the pressure on employers to raise the surcharges for night and Sunday services as soon as possible. There will also be a strike at Baden-Airpark on Saturday, and industrial action will end again on Friday in Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Stuttgart.
