According to media reports, Russia’s security organs have found a crashed combat drone filled with explosives in a forest near the capital Moscow. The aircraft was discovered near a garden northeast of Moscow, the state news agency Tass reported on Monday, citing security circles. During the night, the authorities had already reported a drone attack against the port city of Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula, which has been annexed by Russia since 2014.

According to the information, the drone found near Moscow broke in half. “The drone is currently being examined and it is determined who launched it and where it flew to,” said a spokesman for the security organs. There are a number of military facilities near Moscow.

Anti-aircraft defenses strengthened around Moscow

Russia, which launched its war of aggression against Ukraine 14 months ago and regularly bombards the neighboring country with drones and rockets, is also complaining about increasing attacks on its own rear far behind the front. The military airfield in Saratov, the site of strategic bombers, has been attacked by drones several times. In the meantime, the Russian leadership has massively strengthened the anti-aircraft defenses, especially around Moscow.

According to authorities, the Russian Black Sea Fleet was again attacked in Sevastopol. An unmanned watercraft was destroyed by defense units, a second exploded at the outer roadstead without causing any damage, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Raswoschajew, announced on his telegram channel on Monday. Sevastopol is the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which regularly bombards the Ukraine’s hinterland with Kalibr missiles.
