Due to a video circulating on the Internet of an operation at a climate demonstration, the police are investigating on suspicion of bodily harm in the office. A corresponding criminal complaint had been initiated ex officio against the emergency services concerned, said a police spokeswoman on Monday on request.
The police officers concerned should now be questioned. Among other things, it should be checked what happened before the published situation. It must also be clarified whether there have been any injuries. For this, the police are dependent on information from the demonstrators affected by the Last Generation group, according to the spokeswoman.
Group repeatedly criticizes tough action
The video recording was posted and disseminated several times on Twitter. The last generation also shared it, but initially without their own comment. In the past few weeks, the group has repeatedly pointed out and criticized what they consider to be harsh actions by the police. In a tweet, the police spoke of a “coercive measure by a colleague”, which can be seen on it. It should now be checked whether the behavior was appropriate, said the spokeswoman.
The recording shows a police officer asking a demonstrator sitting on the street to get off the road. “Then I’m going to ask you to go over there immediately. Otherwise I’ll hurt you,” the policeman says clearly in the video. The young man replies: “I am sitting here peacefully and you just want to carry me away.” The policeman then counts down from 3 and then lifts the demonstrator off the street together with a colleague. The video shows him pulling his neck and chin up. After a cut you can see how the two police officers try to get the man off the street. They apply grips, as a result of which the activist screams loudly.
