According to Ukrainian information, one person was killed and three others injured in renewed Russian attacks in Ukraine. The Russian armed forces had “fired 39 times over the past day,” and the city of Cherson in the south of the country had been hit “eight times,” said Oleksandr Prokudin of the Kherson military administration on Monday. “As a result of Russian aggression, one person was killed and three others, including a child, were injured.”
On Monday morning, Kiev also reported further Russian rocket fire, but most of the Russian cruise missiles had been intercepted. “Tonight the enemy carried out another massive air strike on Ukraine,” Kiev’s military administration said on Monday in the online service Telegram. The Ukrainian Air Force announced on Telegram that 18 missiles had been launched, 15 of them were destroyed. Ukraine’s missile defense was recently massively strengthened by the delivery of state-of-the-art defense systems by the western allies.
The Dnipropetrovsk region in the east of the country also reported renewed airstrikes. The number of injuries in the Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk after night Russian rocket attacks has continued to rise. “There are already 34 injured in the rocket attack on the Pavlohrad district,” said the governor of the region, Serghij Lyssak, on his Telegram channel on Monday. He had previously reported 25 injuries.
Most of the victims suffered from fractures and bruises, stab wounds and lacerations from shrapnel, and smoke inhalation from the fires. Two women, aged 45 and 55, are in intensive care, Lyssak said. Three minors were among the injured, including an eight-year-old girl. The clean-up work in the rubble continues.
The latest Russian attacks came amid Kiev’s preparations for a planned spring offensive against the Russian invaders. In recent months, Kiev has repeatedly emphasized its goal of expelling Russian troops from the occupied areas in the south and east of the country. The main battlefield in Ukraine is currently the east of the country.
