Every jubilee year the meanwhile grey-haired Messiah appears on the stages of Germany. Most recently almost exactly four years ago in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. At that time he was speaking as part of a series of lectures called the “World Leadership Summit”, which was somewhat pompous. Now, on Wednesday in Berlin, things are getting more personal: “An Evening with Barack Obama” is the title of the former US President’s appearance. However, the location is not a cozy fireplace, but the Mercedes-Benz Arena with around 17,000 seats.

Although Obama remains a world star, tickets are still available for his performance (theme: “The Great Challenges and Opportunities of Our Time”). No longer the cheapest categories for 61 or 83 euros, of course. But if you are willing to spend between 105 and 391 euros, you still have a surprising number of options.

The really expensive tickets also seem to be sold out. The so-called “Gold Ticket”, which includes a welcome drink, dinner in the Arena restaurant and a seat in the third or fourth row, is only available on classifieds sites for double the price of 1,000 euros.

The most expensive category cost 2500 euros. With the no longer available “Exclusive VIP Pass” there is the possibility for a photo with Barack Obama. Since everyone who gets so close to the ex-US President is personally checked by the Secret Service, there should only have been a very limited number of tickets. In Cologne in 2019, the same VIP access cost 5,000 euros.

Incidentally, the performance will be moderated by Klaas Heufer-Umlauf. He already accompanied Obama’s appearance in Zurich at the weekend. He had previously traveled from Barcelona and performed in Amsterdam on May 1st.
