According to police, three people, including a child, were killed in an act of violence in a residential area in Montabaur. Emergency services discovered the suspected perpetrator seriously injured after they entered the building after a large-scale operation that lasted hours, a police spokesman announced on Thursday. Previously, a large area in Montabaur, a city in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate, had been cordoned off as a precaution. The police said one person had been in a psychological state of emergency since the early hours of the morning. In order to exclude possible dangers for residents, passers-by and employees of surrounding companies, the area was cordoned off and evacuated. There are numerous police forces on site. Police also denied rumors that other areas of the city were affected.
The police had not ruled out the possibility that it was an armed person. According to her own statements, she negotiated with her before an attack occurred at midday. According to DPA information, investigators assume, based on initial findings, that the victims were shot.
