The AfD continues to soar in the polls. According to the current “trend barometer” from RTL and ntv, almost every fifth person questioned in a federal election next Sunday would vote for the partially right-wing extremist party – more than the chancellor party SPD. It is the highest value for the AfD ever measured in the “trend barometer”.
It would therefore come to 19 percent (2 percentage points compared to the previous week), while the Social Democrats received an unchanged 18 percent of the vote. The other two traffic light parties are also behind the AfD in the survey. 14 percent (/- 0) would vote for the Greens, and seven (/- 0) for the FDP. The current governing coalition thus clearly falls short of an absolute majority.
The strongest force would be the Union, which loses one percentage point and ends up at 29 percent. The left would be out of the Bundestag with four percent of the votes (/- 0). Nine percent of those entitled to vote would vote for the other parties.
Other Sunday issues have also shown a strengthening of the AfD in the recent past, which the constitutional protection has classified as a suspected right-wing extremist. A debate has broken out about the reasons for this. One of the reasons given is the public dispute in the traffic light coalition. But the Union parties are also seen as jointly responsible.
The opinion research institute interviewed a total of 2,504 eligible voters for its representative survey on behalf of RTL and ntv between June 6 and 12, 2023. The statistical margin of error is +/- 2.5 percentage points. The question was: Which party would you vote for if there were federal elections next Sunday?
