Two people were killed when a small plane crashed in the Belgian city of Spa. The pilot missed the runway and crashed into a car on the road, the Belgian news agency Belga reported. A fire broke out. The pilot and a second person, who initially could not be identified, died in the accident not far from the border with Germany. Both victims were German.

The managing director of Mönchengladbach Airport, Andreas Ungar, confirmed to the German Press Agency on Sunday evening that the plane took off from Mönchengladbach Airport at 8:44 a.m.

The owner of the parked car, who was near the vehicle, was reportedly uninjured. The accident occurred about 100 meters away from the airport. Authorities are on site to prevent contamination of water intake points and damage caused by kerosene.
