Reserve two seats and only sit in one? Does that actually work? Deutsche Bahn has a clear message: No, it’s not possible. As the company announced on Instagram: “A seat reservation expires after 15 minutes if the seat is not taken. And since you cannot sit in two seats at the same time, the seat is released again for other travelers after 15 minutes.” So the seat reservation trick doesn’t work.
For those who would like to travel alone, there may also be good news. The railway recently asked its customers about a first-class compartment for individuals. Say compartments for one alone. So far, the “private 1er room” is just an idea, but who knows, maybe the dream of a lonely train journey will come true after all.
