One day after the knife attack that left two dead in Hamburg, the suspected perpetrator turned himself in. The 32-year-old man came to Police Station 42 in Billstedt on Saturday morning and was then temporarily arrested, the police said. After the police measures have been completed, he will be taken to the remand prison.
The 32-year-old is said to have stabbed his 61-year-old father and his 58-year-old uncle to death on Friday. According to previous findings from the State Criminal Police Office and the public prosecutor’s office, there was an argument between the three men in front of a house on a residential street in the Billstedt district. During the argument, the 32-year-old is said to have stabbed the other two and fled.
A search that was launched immediately with more than two dozen patrol cars and motorcycles as well as a police helicopter produced no results. As part of the further investigation, two apartments in the Lohbrügge and Horn districts were searched on Friday evening on the orders of the public prosecutor.
