Hundreds of Dutch farmers have blocked several highways in the country. The police in the east of the country said on the X portal (formerly Twitter) that they started fires with bales of straw and wood. Farmers dumped manure, manure and waste on streets and in front of town halls. In several places, safety for other road users was not guaranteed.
According to reporters, around 150 tractors gathered on the A50 near Apeldoorn. Farmers set fires and set off fireworks. According to police reports, the A7 was also blocked in the north of Amsterdam near Purmerend after farmers set fire to hay bales and car tires.
Farmers are generally protesting against environmental regulations and European agricultural policy. Dutch farmers have been demonstrating against environmental regulations repeatedly since 2019. The high point of the protests so far has been 2022.
