Train instead of parcel delivery service: A still unknown sender “sent” a parcel via ICE. The train traveled from Berlin to Hamburg. The abandoned package was in the upper luggage rack of an ICE car on Monday, as the federal police announced on Tuesday evening.

A passenger discovered it and informed the train manager. When entering Hamburg Central Station, the federal police cleared the car in which the abandoned package was located. This was initially checked with the explosives dog Smilla, but according to the Federal Police, the animal “did not show any behavior typical of explosives”.

The officers opened the box. A new LED string of lights appeared. There was a name and phone number on the bottom of the package. The federal police contacted the recipient, who stated that he had already been waiting for the package. However, he was unable to provide any information about the sender. The investigation into this is still ongoing. The 31-year-old was able to leave the station a short time later – after being instructed and with the package of fairy lights.
