The homicide squad in Essen is investigating a 47-year-old whose wife died with serious injuries in their shared apartment.
The investigators were alerted by the woman’s son at around 7 p.m. on Thursday, according to a police statement. The young person reported that his mother might be injured in the shared apartment.
The officers gained access to the apartment and found the 41-year-old Macedonian woman with serious injuries, it was said. She therefore died on site. The 47-year-old husband, also Macedonian, was suspected of having attacked the woman. However, a search for him was soon stopped: the man turned himself in to the police in Gelsenkirchen and was arrested without resistance.
The homicide squad in Essen is now investigating the background and the exact cause of death. According to the police, the family’s children are being cared for by emergency pastors and are in the care of their relatives.
