Julia Taubitz and Anna Berreiter secured a German double success at the Luge World Cup in Oberhof.
Taubitz won in 1:24.426 minutes ahead of Berreiter from Berchtesgaden, who was 0.051 seconds behind. The Austrian Madeleine Egle, who was still leading after the first round, came third. Taubitz from Oberwiesenthal further extended her lead in the overall World Cup before the sprint races in the afternoon.
“In the first run I still had a few mistakes at the start, but the rides were both really nice. I have to thank the trainers who kept giving me tips on how to ride here. I’ve really had a hard time here in the past done,” said the winner. Berreiter was proud: “I couldn’t expect anything more. I was sick in bed on Saturday for the third time this season. That was the maximum,” said Berreiter on ZDF.
