In the struggle for more money and better working conditions, the Verdi union is again calling on the ground staff to go on a warning strike on Wednesday. The employees should stop work from Tuesday morning at 4 a.m. to Wednesday at 7:10 a.m.
According to the information, the airports of Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne-Bonn and Stuttgart are affected, as well as the two most important hubs in Frankfurt am Main and Munich.
The impact on air traffic is likely to be significant again. After the strike announcement, Lufthansa announced that it would create a special flight plan. During the first warning strike at the beginning of February, around 90 percent of all flights were canceled; Lufthansa said around 100,000 passengers were affected.
How the airline will react to the upcoming warning strike has not yet been announced. Lufthansa usually informs passengers directly about any flight cancellations or rebookings.
In the deadlocked collective bargaining dispute between Verdi and Lufthansa, the ideas of both parties continue to differ. The group recently offered ten percent more salary for the around 25,000 employees on the ground, the employees are demanding 12.5 percent and at least 500 euros more. Next Wednesday, the union and employers want to sit down at the table again and continue negotiations.
