Black parachutes hover over the beach in Gaza. They slowly approach the ground, where children and adults run towards them. People rush to get the white packages; if you’re lucky, you get one for yourself and your family. There are scenes of desperation that can be seen on video footage that shows US planes dropping aid supplies.
The packages contain food, and this is something that is particularly lacking in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s attacks are increasingly affecting the civilian population. According to the UN children’s agency Unicef, 10 children have died from lack of water and hunger in northern Gaza.
