The 146 members of the state parliament in Lower Saxony are to receive more money from July. At the request of the SPD, CDU and Greens, the basic compensation should be increased by around 470 euros to around 8,100 euros (plus 6 percent). The flat-rate expense allowance should increase by around 80 euros to around 1,700 euros (plus 5 percent). In total, MPs should receive around 550 euros more per month than before. The state parliament will vote on it on Wednesday.

The basis for increasing the basic compensation is the general income development in Lower Saxony. The higher expense allowance is based on price developments in the country. Both are stipulated by law.
