CSU General Secretary Martin Huber has called for summary proceedings against climate activists who stick to the streets. “Anyone who is glued to the street in the morning should stand before a judge in the evening. Climate stickers are not activists, but criminals,” he told the “Rheinische Post”.
Anyone who accepts that ambulances are blocked “is a criminal and accepts the danger to human life,” said the CSU politician. He accused the climate activists of wanting “another country, they want to weaken democracy and abolish the social market economy.” He expects a “clip and clear distancing” from the Greens.
The Code of Criminal Procedure enables the public prosecutor’s office to apply for a decision in accelerated proceedings if the case is suitable for immediate hearing due to the simple facts or the clear evidence. The summary court may sentence the accused to a maximum of one year imprisonment.
Huber gets support
The new CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann recently made a similar proposal. In response to violent clashes in Berlin’s outdoor pools, he spoke out in favor of the consistent punishment of violent offenders on the day of the crime.
The police union (GdP) supports the call for summary proceedings against climate activists. “From the point of view of the GdP, accelerated procedures are basically a good method of bringing about faster judgments and reducing the investigative effort to what is necessary,” said GdP federal chief Jochen Kopelke of the editorial network Germany (RND). Last generation criminals must be brought to justice as soon as possible.
