At least 21 people have been injured in an earthquake in eastern China. As the Chinese news portal “The Paper” reported, the 5.5-magnitude tremor occurred at a depth of ten kilometers early in the morning in the city of Dezhou (Shangdong province).
The epicenter was therefore in the district of Pingyuan. 126 houses collapsed. Photos and videos on social media show a sidewalk littered with house bricks and other debris, and people heading outdoors after the quake.
Some trains in the area were temporarily stopped to inspect the tracks for damage. As the state news agency Xinhua reported, traffic, communications and power supply in the city continued as normal.
