According to a survey, the Germany ticket for regional transport should not cost more than the valid 49 euros per month from the point of view of most consumers. Around 43 percent of those surveyed consider this price to be the most acceptable, as determined by the Yougov institute. One in five therefore also considers a higher price for the monthly ticket to be appropriate. Eleven percent of those surveyed found a maximum price of 59 euros to be acceptable. According to Yougov, up to 69 euros were fine for six percent. Two percent find an even higher price acceptable.

The monthly subscription has been available since the beginning of May. It applies nationwide and can be canceled on a monthly basis. With the offer, bus and train passengers can sometimes save three-digit sums a month compared to previous season tickets.

The Deutschlandticket is the successor to the 9-euro ticket, which was limited to three months last year, and is intended to make local public transport trips easier and more affordable. According to the survey, around three and a half months after the start, almost every fourth person purchased the ticket at least once.

Half of the tariff is financed by the federal government and half by the states. There has always been a dispute over funding. Due to the cheaper offer, the transport companies make significant losses that have to be compensated. The federal and state governments see each other as primarily responsible. It is therefore unlikely that the ticket will permanently cost 49 euros. The debate about further funding after 2023 has started.
