Ganesh Balamitran is a candidate for the Fremont Unified School Board, aiming to address the challenges faced by the district. Born in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai, Balamitran has been a resident of Fremont for over 20 years. With a background in technology marketing, he plans to leverage his diverse experiences to benefit the FUSD.

His primary goals include promoting student wellness, investing in high-quality educators, and addressing the significant budget deficit. In an interview with India Currents, Balamitran emphasized the importance of creating a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported. He also highlighted the need to update school facilities and prioritize student mental health.

If elected, Balamitran’s top priorities would be to foster a sense of belonging for all students, enhance classroom resources, and unite the community to tackle shared challenges. He recognizes the importance of diverse paths to success and aims to provide students with the tools they need to thrive.

What sets Balamitran apart from his competitors is his extensive professional experience, including managing multi-million dollar budgets in the workforce. He has also been involved with Vibha, an education nonprofit, for 20 years, serving as treasurer for 12 years. Balamitran’s opponent, in contrast, recently graduated from high school and lacks comparable life and professional experience.

Throughout his campaign, Balamitran has garnered support from students, alumni, teachers, staff, and local leaders. He has been endorsed by the teachers association and has personally received endorsements from approximately 30 teachers. Engaging with constituents through neighborhood canvassing has been a highlight of his campaign, with many community members joining him to walk neighborhoods and connect with voters.
