Santo Condorelli will not be able to participate in the U.S. Olympic Trials after his appeal was rejected by USA Swimming and an arbitrator.
This news came after USA Swimming director Lindsay Mintenko sent out an email to all qualified athletes and coaches for the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials, mentioning a “legal situation” that could affect the Trials. While the email did not mention Condorelli by name, sources have confirmed that he is the athlete in question.
Condorelli had been denied eligibility by USA Swimming to compete at the trials and potentially represent the U.S. at the Paris Olympics if he qualified. Despite challenging this decision, his appeal was ultimately turned down by an arbitrator.
Had his challenge been successful, Condorelli planned to enter the men’s 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly events. However, the deadline for late entries passed on June 10 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
SwimSwam has made multiple attempts to get a statement from Condorelli regarding his situation, but he has chosen not to comment on the matter.
