Giuliano Amato, 85, is a deserving statesman. The socialist and native of Turin was prime minister twice and served his country as a constitutional judge for many years. He looks back on a fulfilling public life. But there is something else that is troubling the slight man with the pointed face: an unsolved case that dates back 43 years and, like many of his compatriots, still haunts Amato to this day. A kind of national trauma for Italy.
