A fire in a car repair shop in Oberhausen caused heavy smoke that could be seen far beyond the city limits. As the fire department announced, the workshop was already completely ablaze on Friday evening when the emergency services arrived there. There were no injuries. The amount of damage was initially unknown.
Around 45 firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring buildings, it said. Because of the heavy smoke, air measurements were carried out in the neighboring areas. However, no health risk from the smoke was identified. The Mülheim district of Dümpten was also affected by the smoke, as the fire department there announced.
