Passengers on Deutsche Bahn’s long-distance services had to be particularly patient in August: only 63.4 percent of ICE and IC trains were on time, as the company reports. That was the lowest value this year.
In August 2022, however, long-distance trains were even more unreliable at 56.8 percent. According to the railway definition, stops that are less than six minutes late are on time.
The main reason for the low rate remains the many construction sites on the rail network, which is in need of renovation in many places. According to Deutsche Bahn, almost 70 of all long-distance trains still have to pass through at least one construction site.
